VAV rejects Federal Council's draft bill on sustainable business conduct act

The indirect counterproposal proposed by the Federal Council to the popular initiative “For Responsible Large Corporations—Protecting Humans and the Environment” calls for the creation of a new federal act on sustainable business conduct (NUFG). This act would, in particular, include requirements for sustainability reporting, due diligence obligations, a new liability regime, and their enforcement by a unified national supervisory authority.

In its response, VAV rejects the draft bill for the NUFG in its present form. It criticizes, in particular, that the bill goes beyond EU law in key areas, is not sufficiently proportionate or practical in its design, and creates unnecessary administrative burdens.
